Upon graduating Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame, native San Antonian, Dr. Kenneth Maverick attended The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. There he was mentored by Dr. Jack Holladay, a world-renowned authority in optics and refraction. Dr. Maverick fulfilled a medical internship at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. He was then honored to be accepted for his Ophthalmology Residency into Washington University in St. Louis, which consistently ranks in the top ten programs for eye care and training, and in the top two institutions for eye research. Dr. Maverick then completed specialty training in the Corneal, External Disease and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at Washington University.
Dr. Maverick is a compassionate, skilled doctor and experienced surgeon. His additional accomplishments include:
- Dr. Maverick and his associates, Dr. Michael Ference and Dr. Robert Snip, have been selected by NuVision to act as the exclusive providers for all refractive surgery as well as glaucoma and anterior segment eye surgery (includes cataracts and corneal transplants).
- Medical Director of Cornea Clinic at the Veterans Hospital in St. Louis
- Original Research and publications in the following areas:
-Intraocular lens calculations in children
-Safety of refractive surgery/Lasik in scuba divers (Received ARVO award)
-Bioterrorism and the eye
-Corneal mapping and the effect of intraocular pressure
-New chemotherapies for ocular pemphagoid
- Already is a pioneer in 1st performing exciting new procedure in corneal
surgery (DLEK) for which he has unique background and training.
